    Statistics

Blah...blah...blah...yes, I know some people get so hung up on stats that they forget to enjoy the game, but now that I've got nothing else to do (because the Wallabies are on their way home)...

Leading try scorer: Drew Mitchell (AUS) - 7 tries

2nd highest team tries:    Australia - 31 tries (beaten only by NZ with 48)

England's only stat of any note:    51 points kicked by JW

I know that it's sour grapes, and nothing can change the end result, but what would you rather watch? A free-flowing game of try-fest rugby, or Jonny kicking penalty after penalty?  Ho hum...

Give me our style of game any day!  Go FIJI!!

    Andy,

Interesting figures indeed..I would have been interested to see how Aussie would have faired in Englands group and see how many tries they would have got against Tonga, Samoa and SA. I still think playing the likes of Japan just brings your game down a tad....what was it 93-3? and look at NZ winning 110-something against Romania - what does that count for now?

I think I'd rather watch my team in the semi-finals than getting off the plane.

True enough - we did have a lucky break in the Pool this time - hasn't always been the case and we've managed...A one-sided try-fest is not what I'm looking for

The World Cup is awesome and a showcase for the rugby playing nations of the world (and their different styles of play). For me, it's like a concentrated dose of pure pleasure.

But rugby extends well beyond an event that occurs once every four years.

Still know how I like my rugby...5-pointers is exciting, penalties are not - hey, this is not just a cheap shot at the Man With The Golden Boot - refs suck too (and I admit we gave the penalties away to start with!)
